Ingredients
- 190 g unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 90 g granulated sugar
- 1 egg, at room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 380 g all – purpose flour
- 3 g baking powder
For chocolate dough:
- 2 -3 tbsp cocoa powder
- Sugar paste for decoration
How to
- In a mixer's bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add the egg and continue with the vanilla extract or vanillin.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder and gradually add these as well.
- Continue beating until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Now you can divide the dough and add the cocoa powder for the chocolate. Beat until the dough is an even color.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 min.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.6 - 0.7 cm and use a cookie cutter to cut out your cookies. If you don't have a button cookie cutter, use two different sized glasses and a straw for the buttonholes.
- Transfer to a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven (set to fan) at 355 °F - 180 °C for 18 - 20 min.
- Let them cool on a wire rack and decorate them by making a sugar paste thread.
